To give you a little background about myself, I first started swimming competitively in 1979 at the age of six at Hanging Moss Swim Club. A year later I joined the Sunkist Swim Team and steadily progressed through my high school years. I loved everything about swimming...the friends, training, the way I felt in the water, the awards, the competition. In college I attended the University of Florida on a full swimming scholarship and had great successes with the team. We placed 2nd in the NCAA championships, and I helped set an American Record in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay that stood for a decade. I placed 12th in the 1992 Olympic Trials in the 200 I.M. and was a 17 time All-American. Outside of the pool, I was an elementary education major.

After college I was hired by the Courthouse Racquet & Fitness Club as their Aquatics Director, where I also taught swimming lessons to all ages, from 2 1/2 to age 83. I met my husband at the pool and we now have two young boys. I remained with the Courthouse for nine years, and life took a different direction from what I had planned. But sometimes God has a better plan than anything we can imagine, and in December of 2005 I started my teaching swimming business called swimgirl, LLC. I am thrilled to be able to give back to the sport and do what I love most...teaching swimming.
